Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and the business that runs Masar Deutsch ("we", "us") for using Masar Deutsch (مسار). You accept them by ticking the agreement box when you create your account, and again when the app asks you to accept a new version; we keep a record of the version you accepted and when. The contract between us is made electronically, in Arabic or English as you choose, and you can read, save or print these pages at any time. Please read them with our Privacy policy and Refund and cancellation policy.
In short
- You must be 18 or older. You join with an invite code or, when it is open, by creating an account yourself. Each account is for one person.
- A new learner gets a free 7-day trial, counted from their first sign-in: the placement test first, then a free sample of lessons. One free trial per person.
- You buy access per level (12 months each), as a combo of levels (12 months; the Career combo 18 months; Complete, A0 to B2, 24 months), or as a Sprint pass: every level for 30 days, renewed manually.
- Paid plans are not on sale yet. We will tell you when you can buy; until then you can use the free placement test and the free trial.
- The AI tutor has daily limits and can make mistakes. Check important answers.
- Masar Deutsch is a course. When you complete a level, you can get a Masar Deutsch Certificate of Completion once certificates reopen: they are paused at present while we strengthen the final test, and your progress is kept. It is a course certificate, not an official CEFR certificate or an exam result, and we do not award official CEFR levels.
- Use it fairly: no sharing accounts, copying the course or attacking the site.
1. Who can use Masar Deutsch
You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding contract. Under Egyptian law full legal capacity begins at 21. If you are under 21, a paid plan must be bought, or approved, by your parent or legal guardian; if a purchase was made by someone under 21 without that approval, the parent or guardian may ask us to cancel it and we will refund it in full. If you use Masar Deutsch for an organisation (for example a school), you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
2. Accounts, invites and self-serve sign-up
- You can create an account with an invite code from us or from an organisation we work with (each code works once, for 14 days, and only for the person it was given to), or, when self-serve sign-up is open, yourself at /join. Self-serve sign-up includes an automated check against bots, and your account is created only when you open the confirmation link we email you.
- Give your real name (or the name you are known by) and an email address you control. Keep them up to date.
- One account is for one person. Do not share your account, password, invite code, reset code or reset link.
- Keep your password safe. Use at least 8 characters; we refuse passwords that are too common or that appear in known data breaches. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You can sign out of every device in Account.
- Staff accounts (teachers and admins) are given for a role. Use the access only for that role, and keep learners' information confidential.
- Forgot your password? Choose "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page and we email you a link to set a new one (it works once, for 24 hours). If email is not available, contact support from the email address on your account and we will give you a one-time reset code.
3. Free trial, placement test and free sample
- 7-day trial. A new learner's free trial lasts 7 days, counted from your first sign-in: the moment your account is created, with an invite code or by confirming your email. It is not counted from when an invitation was sent. The trial ends after 7 days whether or not you used it. The app shows how long is left.
- One free trial per person. There is one free trial per person and per email address, invite trials included. Addresses that differ only in ways that reach the same mailbox (for example dots or a "+" tag in a Gmail address) count as one address. We may refuse or end a trial obtained with several addresses or by automated means.
- Placement test first. During the trial you first see only the Masar Deutsch Placement Test, an adaptive test of grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening, followed by a short writing task and an optional short speaking task; it takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Writing and speaking are marked by AI, and a spoken answer is turned into text and the recording is deleted straight away. You can take it once; your teacher or our staff can let you take it again. Your result (a level from Pre-A1 to B2, or "B2+" if your German is above B2, and a score) is stored with your account and our staff and your teacher can see it. Our course currently ends at B2: with a B2+ result we suggest B2 or the Complete bundle to keep your German sharp.
- The placement result is a guide, not a certificate. It suggests where to start in the course. It is not an official exam result and does not certify a level (see section 9).
- Free test on our website. You can also take a free version of the placement test on our website without an account. Its result is a guide in the same way, and what we keep about it is described in the Privacy policy.
- Free sample. After the test, and until the trial ends, a free sample opens: the first units of your recommended level (or of A1 if you place at A0), some Foundations and word lessons, a situation and a story. Everything else is shown as locked until you buy access.
- When the trial ends you can still sign in, see your result and your progress, and buy access. Trials that were already running when these terms were published keep at least the end time they had.
4. Levels, combos, the Sprint pass and access periods
- Per level. You buy access to a level (A0, which includes the Foundations, A1, A2, B1 or B2). A level stays open for 12 months from the day your payment is confirmed. If you buy a level you already have, the new period is added after your current end date.
- Combos. Some levels are sold together as a combo at a lower price than buying them one by one. The Beginner combo (A0 and A1) and the Progress combo (A1 and A2) open their levels for 12 months, the Career combo (A2, B1 and B2) for 18 months, and Complete (A0 to B2) for 24 months. Any saving shown when you buy is worked out from the prices shown at that time. If a combo includes a level you bought earlier and that is still open, the unused part of what you paid for that level (worked out over that purchase's own access period) is taken off the combo price, and that level then runs for the combo's period instead: you never pay twice for the same time on the same level.
- Sprint pass. The Sprint pass opens every level for 30 days, for short, intensive study. It renews manually: it does not renew automatically and we do not store your card for it. Nothing is charged again unless you press Renew; the app reminds you a few days before it ends. To stop it, do nothing: it ends on its date and you keep access until then. If you renew early, the new 30 days start when the current ones end. A monthly pass bought before the Sprint pass replaced it keeps its end date.
- Before you pay, the order page shows the product, the levels it opens, the access period, the total price in Egyptian pounds (the final price, including any value added tax that applies), and any credit taken off. Staff may also open or extend levels for you (for example as part of an agreement with your school).
- When a level's access period ends, its lessons are locked again; your progress is kept as described in the Privacy policy. Accounts that existed before 5 October 2026 keep the levels and end date of their old plan.
- We improve the course over time. We may change, add or reorganise lessons, but we will not remove a level you have paid for during its access period.
5. Payment
Paid plans are not on sale yet. No payment can be made through the site yet. The prices and the ways to pay will be shown in the app when paid plans open.
- In Egyptian pounds (EGP): you buy from us; the payment is processed by Paymob.
- In US dollars (USD): not offered at the moment. If we offer it later, our reseller and merchant of record, Paddle.com, will sell access to you, Paddle's buyer terms will apply to that purchase, and Paddle will charge any sales tax and issue the receipt.
- When online payment is open, you pay on Paymob's secure page by card (including Meeza), mobile wallet or a kiosk reference number. We never see your card details.
- Bank transfer: not currently offered. If we offer it later, we will update these terms first.
- Prices in Egyptian pounds are final prices: they include value added tax (VAT) where it applies, and your receipt shows any VAT included. We give you a receipt for every payment; where Egyptian tax law requires an electronic receipt or invoice, we issue it in the form the Egyptian Tax Authority sets. For USD sales Paddle adds or includes any tax as shown at checkout. Refunds and cancellation: see the Refund and cancellation policy.
6. Fair and acceptable use
Please do not:
- share, resell or lend your account, or let more than one person use it;
- copy, download in bulk, record, publish or sell the course content, audio or exams, or use them to build another product (including training AI models);
- try to open levels you have not unlocked, take the placement test for someone else, get round limits, test our security without written permission, or overload or attack the service;
- use automated tools (bots, scrapers) on the service;
- send the AI tutor content that is unlawful, abusive, hateful or sexual, or that contains other people's personal data, or try to make it produce such content;
- break the law or other people's rights.
7. The AI tutor
- The AI tutor gives automatic feedback on your writing and speaking, answers questions and plays conversation partners. It is a computer system (an AI model), not a person.
- AI can make mistakes. Its corrections, scores and explanations may be wrong or incomplete. Use them as practice help, and check anything important with your teacher or a trusted source. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
- There are daily limits on requests per person (currently 15 a day during the free trial and 30 a day once you have a paid level; 2 a day on the free sample on our website) and for the whole site. When a limit is reached, the tutor stops until the next day (UTC). We may change limits, models or providers, and the tutor may sometimes be unavailable.
- What you send to the tutor is processed by our AI provider to give you an answer (see the Privacy policy). Do not type sensitive personal information into it.
- Support assistant. Help and support also has an automated assistant for questions about the course, your account and your orders. It is separate from the tutor, answers from our reviewed information and your own account status, may still make mistakes, and cannot change orders, payments or access. Your order and account pages, and our staff, are the reference. You can always ask a person instead.
8. Content and ownership
- The course audio is produced with two synthetic (computer-generated) German voices, a female and a male voice, not recordings of human speakers. We make it on our own computer with free open-source software (Piper); no outside speech service is used.
- The course (texts, exercises, exams, audio, design and software) is protected by Egyptian Intellectual Property Law No. 82 of 2002 and belongs to us or to the people who licensed it to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it for your own learning while your access lasts. Nothing else is transferred to you.
- What you write or say in the course stays yours. You allow us to store and process it only to provide the service to you (for example to save your progress or to get AI feedback).
- If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely to improve Masar Deutsch.
9. Certificates of Completion; no official level
Masar Deutsch is a learning course. Our levels (Foundations, A0, A1, A2, B1, B2) describe our course content, which we planned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in mind. We are not an exam board, and we do not award official CEFR levels, official certificates or qualifications. The course prepares you for exams in the style of the Goethe-Zertifikat exams (A1 Start Deutsch 1, A2, B1 and B2). Our practice exams are written by us in that style; they are not official exams and do not copy official exam papers, and we are not affiliated with, connected with, approved by or endorsed by the Goethe-Institut, telc, ÖSD, TestDaF, the Council of Europe or any other exam body. Results of the Masar Deutsch Placement Test and other scores are a guide to choose where to start: a placement result, not a certificate. The Masar Deutsch Placement Test is our own test; it is not connected with, approved by or equivalent to any exam board's placement test, and we do not promise any exam result.
Masar Deutsch Certificate of Completion. Certificates are paused at present while we strengthen the final test; no certificate is issued until they reopen, and the progress you record meanwhile still counts. When they are open, the rule is as follows. When our server has recorded that you completed every unit of a level (for A0, every Foundations module) and that you passed one of that level's mock exams at the practice pass mark of 60 per cent, you can ask for a Certificate of Completion for that level in the app (Me, Certificates). For the exam, only the Reading and Listening parts count, marked by our server; Writing and Speaking stay self-assessed. The certificate shows the name on your account, the level, the units completed, your best level-exam score, the date and a unique id, and it states: "This is not an official CEFR certificate or an exam result from any exam board." It confirms that you completed our course; it does not certify your level of German, and it is not proctored. Each certificate has a public check page at the address printed on it, which shows only your initials (or your full name, if you choose), the level, the date and whether it is valid or revoked.
The work behind a certificate must be your own. We may revoke a certificate that was issued by mistake or obtained by misuse (for example answers sent by a program, someone else doing the course for you, or a breach of section 6); its check page then shows it as revoked. You can delete a certificate yourself at any time; its check page then stops working. See the Privacy policy for what is stored.
10. Availability
We work to keep Masar Deutsch available and correct, but it may sometimes be slow, unavailable or contain errors, for example during maintenance or problems at our providers. We will fix errors within a reasonable time when we learn of them.
11. Suspension and ending
- You can stop using Masar Deutsch at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy policy). Refunds follow the Refund and cancellation policy.
- We may suspend or close an account, after a warning where reasonable, if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, to protect the service or other people, or if the law requires it. We will tell you the reason and give you a chance to reply, unless the law or the security of the service prevents it. If we close your account without a good reason related to you, we refund the unused part of your paid access period.
- If we ever close the service, we will tell you in good time before and refund the unused part of any paid access period.
12. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits or removes rights you have by law that cannot be limited or removed, including your rights as a consumer under Egyptian Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018 and its executive regulations and the mandatory consumer law of your country.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for fraud or gross fault, or for harm to a person.
- We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Within what the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that could not have been foreseen when you made your purchase, for indirect loss (such as lost profits or opportunities), or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control (force majeure).
- Within what the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the purchase or purchases the claim concerns.
- These terms are offered in the same form to every learner. If any term is unclear, it is read in your favour.
13. Law and disputes
The law that governs these terms will be stated here before paid sales open. If there is a problem, please contact us first at [email protected]; most problems can be solved quickly. The courts for disputes that cannot be solved will be stated here before paid sales open. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may also use its courts. In Egypt you can also contact the Consumer Protection Agency.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We will tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect. A change never reduces, for a period you have already paid for, the levels or the access period you bought, and never changes the price you paid. When these terms change materially, the app asks you to accept the new version before you continue. If you do not accept the change, you may stop using Masar Deutsch and ask for a refund of the unused part of your paid access period.
15. Contact
Our company details will be published here before paid sales open. Email: [email protected]. More details: About and contact.
