Why Masar Deutsch

From knowing some German to using it.

Exams

You need a German certificate for a visa, a university or a job, and the exam format is new to you.

Practise Hören, Lesen, Schreiben and Sprechen in 14 mock exams in the Goethe style, with explanations in English.

Daily life

At the Bürgeramt, the doctor's or on the phone, a simple question suddenly feels hard.

Learn 4,811 real-life sentences in 119 situations, each with its English meaning and a short note.

Grammar

der, die or das? The cases and the word order feel like a wall.

Each unit takes one step of German grammar, explains it in plain English with tables and examples, then checks it in exercises.

Exam practice follows the style of the Goethe-Zertifikat exams. Masar Deutsch is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the Goethe-Institut, and its mock exams are not official papers.

How it works

A little every day, in the right order.

  1. Placement test

About 30 to 45 minutes: questions on grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening that adapt to your answers, then a short writing and speaking task. It suggests where to start, so you do not repeat what you already know.

  2. A daily plan

Each day the app puts together a short plan: your next unit step, words that are due for review and one more thing to practise.

  3. Units in a clear order

64 units from A1 to B2. Each one starts with a German conversation, then the words, the grammar in plain English, useful phrases, exercises that check every answer, and speaking.

  4. Spaced review

Words and sentences come back just before you would forget them, so they stay in your memory. The article (der, die, das) and the plural travel with every noun.

  5. Hear it, then say it

Conversations, words and sentences are read by two clear synthetic (AI) German voices, added level by level; a line without a recording says so. Record yourself and compare.

  6. Exam practice in the Goethe style

14 mock exams with the four parts Hören, Lesen, Schreiben and Sprechen, and 10 practice sets for the parts of the A1 exam. The practice pass mark is 60%.

More about how Masar Deutsch works

Built for Arabic speakers

It knows where Arabic speakers get stuck in German.

  • Letters and sounds: the Foundations train what is new for Arabic speakers: ä, ö, ü and ß, the two ch sounds, p and b, f and w, and long and short vowels.
  • Grammar: der, die and das, the four cases and the verb in second position or at the end are explained step by step and practised until they stick.
  • English and Arabic help: every German sentence comes with its English translation, and the ع button shows the Arabic. Arabic translations are being added level by level.
How long it takes

An honest timeline.

  1. A1about 3 months
  2. A26 to 8 months
  3. B112 to 15 months
  4. B2about 2 years

Estimates, not guarantees. From a complete beginner, at about 1 hour a day. Your starting level, your practice outside the course and the time you really give each day all change it. The placement test gives you an estimate for your own result.
